How to make a UGC portfolio that gets you hired

A UGC portfolio is one link that shows brands 5 to 10 short vertical videos, who you are, what your videos did and how to hire you. Brands skim it, so put the three videos closest to the job first and label samples as samples. For jobs where you post on a brand's account, show view counts, not follower counts: that's what the brand pays for.

What reviewers see

What do brands look for in a UGC portfolio?

Fit first, then proof, then the videos. A portfolio gets you into a trial; the trial gets you hired. This is the order a reviewer reads yours in.

  1. 1

Who you are, in one line

Name, niche, the formats you film, your country and languages. Most jobs are open to certain countries and languages only, so say both.

  2. 2

    Proof, with dates

Views on accounts you posted for, the median per video and how many videos it covers. For ad work: results a brand let you share.

  3. 3

The three videos closest to the job

Hook in the first two seconds, the product on screen, a visible payoff. Reorder them for each application.

  4. 4

    A label under every video

Product type, format, length, and whether it was paid or a sample. Labels let a reviewer skim without pressing play.

  5. 5

Rates or capacity, and one button

A starting price or how many videos a week you can deliver, plus a single way to reach you.

By job type

What should a UGC portfolio include?

The five parts above, always. What changes with the job is what you lead with and what counts as proof. Make one version per job type rather than one portfolio for everything.

Proof

Why should a UGC portfolio show views, not followers?

Because on most UGC jobs, nothing goes on your own page. 137 of the 156 open jobs on viral.app's job board are Canvas UGC, where you post on an account the brand owns, often a brand-new one (see how Canvas UGC works). Your followers never see those videos. The pay follows views instead: 88 of those jobs pay per 1,000 views, a median $1, and 40 pay a base per video, a median $15; only 13 pay both. So the only question a Canvas brand has is: when you post, do people watch?

Nothing a brand can check, and nothing about what happens when you post on an account that starts at zero.

Dated, specific and checkable: the median shows her typical video, and a reviewer can open the top ones and see the same numbers.

Real numbers from Larisa's TikTok @createdbylarisaa, as of October 18, 2026: views and the median tracked by viral.app, followers from her TikTok profile. The follower side is a typical example.

How to show numbers a brand will believe

  • Date it. “Aug 4 to Oct 10” beats “recently”.
  • Give the median next to the total. One viral video can carry a total; the median shows your typical post.
  • Count the breakouts. How many videos passed 100K views, and how many videos a week you kept up.
  • Make it checkable. Link the live posts or the account. Have a dated screenshot or screen recording of the analytics ready for anyone who asks.
  • Ask before naming a brand. Canvas accounts belong to the brand. Without a yes, describe it: “study app, brand account”.

No brand accounts yet?

Your own test account counts. Warm up a fresh TikTok or Reels account in your niche for 2 to 3 days, post one sample a day for two weeks and report its median views. It's small proof, but it is real, and it shows people stop and watch.

On viral.app, your creator profile holds up to 10 featured videos and 20 featured accounts. Each is checked when you add it, and brands you apply to see the follower and view counts, refreshed daily, next to your application.

From zero

How do you make a UGC portfolio with no experience?

With spec videos: practice videos for real products you own or use, made as if a brand had briefed you. Brands expect them from new creators, as long as they're labeled. Start applying at five videos, and keep posting while you apply.

  1. 01

Pick one niche and two or three products you use

Apps first: almost every open job on viral.app's job board is for an app or software tool, such as study, productivity, finance or AI apps. Pick one niche and two or three apps you already use. Skincare or kitchen products work for ad-creative jobs. One niche reads as a specialist; five niches read as random.

  2. 02

    Write yourself a mock brief

Before you film, write what a brand would send: the product, the viewer, the one message, the hook, the format, the length and the call to action. Use the mock brief template, or the two filled examples in viral.app's free Influencer Brief Notion template.

  3. 03

Film five videos in the formats jobs ask for

Product demos, talking-head videos and tutorials lead the formats open jobs ask for (see the chart). Keep each video between 10 and 35 seconds, vertical, with captions people can read without sound. For Canvas jobs, make them look like a real person posted them, not like an ad.

  4. 04

Give your best video three hooks

Re-cut the same video with three different openings. It shows ad buyers you can test, and it costs ten minutes. viral.app's free hook testing planner has five hook prompts.

  5. 05

    Label every sample

Write “Sample video for [product]. Not sponsored.” under each one. Brands expect spec work; they don't like discovering it.

  6. 06

Warm up a sample account and post daily

Open a fresh TikTok or Reels account in your niche on day one and use it like a normal viewer for 2 to 3 days: search the niche, watch videos to the end, follow 5 to 10 creators a day. Then post one sample a day for two weeks, changing the hook more often than the format. Canvas brands hire on views, and this gives you a median to report. Keep applying while it runs.

  7. 07

Put it on one link and apply

A Drive folder or a free Canva page is enough. Start applying at five videos; eight to ten is comfortable. viral.app's free course chapter on building a portfolio from zero covers picking products, sharing samples and the trial that follows.

What is the best free UGC portfolio website?

Start with what costs nothing: a Google Drive folder for applications, or a free Canva site if you want a page. Add your own domain when you start pitching brands directly; Carrd's $19 a year, plus the domain itself, was the cheapest route we found. Prices from each company's own site, read October 18, 2026.

Marketplace profiles are portfolios too

On a marketplace, brands review the profile you fill in there, not your website. Add your best samples to each one you use. On viral.app, featured videos are links to public posts, so post your samples first.

Pricing

Should you put rates in your UGC portfolio?

Put a starting price on a portfolio you send to brands directly, and keep the full rate card as a separate page you send on request. Leave prices off where the job sets the pay, like job boards, and say how many videos a week you can deliver instead. On marketplaces where you sell packages, such as Collabstr, the price is part of the profile.

FAQ

UGC portfolio questions

What is a UGC portfolio?

A single link that shows brands 5 to 10 of your short vertical videos, who you are, what your videos achieved and how to hire you. It can be a Drive folder, a social account, a one-page site or a marketplace profile.

How many videos should a UGC portfolio have?

Five to start applying, eight to ten to feel complete. Marketplaces agree: soona asks for 3 to 6 samples, Insense for at least 4 and suggests 6 to 12, and viral.app's profile features up to 10.

Can I make a UGC portfolio with no experience?

Yes. Film spec videos for products you already use, as if a brand had briefed you, and label them as samples. Posting them on a fresh TikTok account, after 2 to 3 days of warming it up, gives you real view numbers before your first job.

Do I need a website for my UGC portfolio?

No. A Google Drive folder or a free Canva site is enough for applications. A website on your own domain helps once you pitch brands directly; Carrd's Pro Standard plan connects one for $19 a year.

Should I put my rates on my UGC portfolio?

Put a starting price on a portfolio you send to brands directly, and keep the full rate card as a separate page. On job boards the brand sets the pay: on viral.app, Canvas UGC jobs that pay per video pay a median $15 a video, and jobs that pay on views pay a median $1 per 1,000 views.

Do I need followers to get UGC work?

Not for ad creative or Canvas UGC. 137 of the 156 open jobs on viral.app's job board are Canvas UGC, where you post on an account the brand owns, so views matter and followers don't. Followers matter only when you post on your own account.

Can I use videos I made for a brand in my portfolio?

Ask the brand first: your contract decides it, and Canvas accounts belong to the brand by default. If the answer is no, share your results without the brand name, such as “study app, brand account, 1.2M views in six weeks”.

Can I have a faceless UGC portfolio?

Yes. Hands-only demos, voiceovers and screen recordings are real formats; 7% of open jobs on viral.app list Faceless / Clipping as a format. You'll have fewer jobs to choose from than on-camera creators, so make the demos excellent.

How long should UGC portfolio videos be?

Between 10 and 35 seconds, vertical 9:16, with captions. Mix a few short ones around 10 seconds with a few around 30.

Should a UGC portfolio include photos?

Only if you sell photos. Most UGC jobs buy video, so a photo grid is optional; product stills help on Amazon and ecommerce briefs.
